Yom Teruah - (Day of the Awakening Blast)
"Blow a shofar in the New Moon, in the covering for the day of our festival. For this is a law for Yisra'el, and a right-ruling of Elohim of Jacob." Psalm 81:3-4
Tishri 1, yesterday on the Hebrew Civil Calendar, is the first day of the High Holy Days known as the Days of Awe and it is the first day of the Sabbatical/Seventh/Shemitah Year. Instead of watching a crystal ball in the city square, the shofar is blown in Jerusalem on this day to warn: " Whoever wishes to repent - let him repent; if not, let him have remorse later."
In the book he authored, "Rosh HaShanah and the Messianic Kingdom to Come", Joseph Good writes, "Because Rosh haShanah is the Day of Judgment, awe and even dread are a part of its message...When we hear the sound of the shofar, we are to feel fear and trembling, and we are to humble ourselves before the Creator. For this is the effect of the shofar - that it arouses fright and trembling, as it is written: 'If a shofar is sounded in the city, shall the people not tremble?' (Amos 3)"
This is also known as Yom HaKeseh, The Day of the Hidden, Concealed Throne. Malkhiyot (Kingship) - Enthronement when Jews around the world crown The LORD King of the Universe. Every Synagogue prays, Avinu Malkenu, 'Our Father, Our King.' Kings of Israel were crowned on Rosh Hashanah regardless of when they ascended the throne. ( Ministries of New Life, Restoring the Father's Teaching, page 50)
There are ten days between Rosh haShanah and Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. During this time our practicing Jewish friends greet one another with , "May you be sealed until the Day of Redemption". One day they will understand their Rabbi Shaul, the Apostle Paul's words to the Ephesians, "And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby you are sealed unto the day of redemption." (Ephesians 4:30)
Joseph Good explains, "At his second coming, Yeshua will reestablish his throne in Jerusalem, and all those who by faith have been gathered to him will also reign with him the remainder of the 1,000 years."
Rosh HaShanah is known as the "Day of the Coronation" In Jewish services on this day, there are special readings on the sovereignty of the LORD and songs like "Our Father, Our King"
Genesis 49:10 is prophetic of this day: "The scepter will not depart from Judah or the staff from between his feet until he whose right it is comes and the obedience of the peoples belongs to him."
This day causes me to reflect on my own life. After watching the respect and honor given to Queen Elizabeth recently, I pray I give Yeshua Jesus the adoration and honor and more as I crown Him King of Kings and Lord of Lords! After all, as believers in Christ, we are part of a kingdom! My prayer is: "Our Father in heaven, your name be honored as holy. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven." Matthew 6:9-10.
"All Hail, King Jesus!"
